Kayla & Joseph’s Elegant Wedding at The Four Columns

Every love story has a beginning, but some feel destined long before that beginning ever arrives.

For Kayla and Joseph, their story was years in the making. With their mothers being best friends since the age of 11, their lives had always been connected. Growing up, they shared a quiet admiration for one another—both holding onto a crush, yet neither willing to say it out loud.

Life moved forward, as it often does, but their story was never finished. It was simply waiting for the right time.

That time came in March of 2020.

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Joseph reached out to Kayla with a simple message—checking on her and her family. What began as a genuine conversation quickly turned into something deeper. Kayla returned the same care, asking about his family, and from there, their connection naturally grew.

They went from spending time together a few times a week… to nearly every day.

On May 17, 2020, they made it official.

What had always been there finally had the space to grow into something real.

The Proposal

Just two days after Kayla’s Golden Birthday, what was expected to be a simple celebration turned into one of the most unforgettable moments of her life.

On September 28, 2024, Kayla was preparing for her birthday dinner while Joseph spent the day acting completely out of character. While she was at her makeup appointment, she reminded him to get dressed, knowing she had limited time once she got home.

Instead, Joseph told her he was painting the front door and asked her to enter through the back of the house.

Confused—but trusting—Kayla followed his instructions.

As she walked into the backyard, everything changed.

There stood Joseph, surrounded by a beautifully arranged proposal setup, flowers in hand, ready to ask the question that had been years in the making.

He got down on one knee…

And overwhelmed with emotion, Kayla said yes.

Later that evening, they shared their engagement with family and friends during her birthday dinner—turning an already special night into an unforgettable celebration.

Their Wedding Day — A Celebration of Love, Culture, and Emotion

On November 15, 2025, Kayla and Joseph officially began their next chapter together with a beautiful New Orleans wedding that blended elegance, emotion, and culture.

Their ceremony took place at Little Zion Baptist Church in New Orleans, where one of the most powerful moments of the day unfolded.

As Kayla walked down the aisle, Joseph serenaded her.

The atmosphere shifted instantly.

Emotion filled the room, and there wasn’t a dry eye in sight. It was a moment that perfectly captured their connection—intentional, heartfelt, and deeply personal. That same emotion carried into their vows, where they shared words that reflected their journey, their growth, and the love they had built over time.

Following the ceremony, the celebration continued at The Four Columns in Harvey, Louisiana, where guests were welcomed into an elegant all-black formal reception.

From the moment Kayla and Joseph made their grand entrance, the energy in the room was undeniable.

The evening unfolded with a series of unforgettable moments—from their emotional first dance to the touching mother-son and father-daughter dances that brought both joy and reflection to everyone in attendance.

And in true New Orleans fashion, the night ended with a vibrant Second Line.

Led by the Zulu Tramps, family and friends filled the space with music, movement, and celebration—honoring tradition while celebrating the beginning of a new chapter.

The Beginning of Forever

Kayla and Joseph’s wedding day was more than just a celebration—it was a full-circle moment.

A love that started in childhood…grew during uncertain times…and came together in a city rich with culture and tradition.

Their story is a reminder that timing, patience, and genuine connection always find their way.
